D is Depressed. When we are being offended by someone else, we'll feel depressed. Feeling that we have already lost confidence in that person. You'll feel that that person is just a person you can't trust anymore.
Let us look at how offended person makes choices. First, we'll think that "he owns me something". Or we still harbouring grudges. How about "I will not be vulnerable again". And "i'll take revenge when i have a chance". Does all these sound familiar? All these are unforgiving acts. By thinking so, makes us feel more unforgiving. The more we think about it, the more it will cling on to ur heart. even though it doesn't appear at times, it will comes out someday for "payback" time when things happen again.
I also learnt about why is it diffcult to recover from hurt. Basically, It is just a matter of choice. We chose it. Choosing to nurse the hurts --> Keep replaying the hurts in our minds. Some people will seek for attention. Always trying to make fun of people. Always trying to get lime light. Because they are hurt, they wanna let others to care for them. They wanna be noticed.
So how must we handle offences when we are offended? In Acts24:16, Strive for a clear conscious by exercise. Strive means to fight on until almost worn out. We have to keep fighting for it. No pain no gain. We are not here just to fight for it but STRIVE for it. The keyword is strive. Next, face it squarely. Identify with my own weakness. what is the thing that hurts me most? What about those gossip against me? Am i abused by someone? Cheated? Betrayed? After that, we have to confess it sincerely. bring my condition to the Lord. Know God's instructions as to how i'm to respond. Declare forgiveness willingly.(Matt 18) The forgiveness must be from the heart. No point saying that you forgave but your mind and your heart doesn't mean it. Lastly, pray for him obediently. (Matt 5:44) remember one of the commandments. "Love your enemies"
So main thing is that, when we are being offended, we must know how to control ourselves. DO NOT let the satan to take control of us. Forgive the person as God has forgiven us. These are just one of the means that for us to train. Train to be able to strive for forgive others and not just forget. Train to love our enemies as how we love our God, family and friends. Train not to be trapped in the replays of the hurts we felt. In Luke 11:17, It says that it is impossible to get away from offences. This is inevitable. Same in Matt 24.
Therefore, at the end of the day, I hope that everyone including me are able to forgive others from our hearts for the wrong things they had done. Ok. That's all for today. Take care. May the peace of the Lord be always with you!
